Midnight Sun for double bass and guitar (2025)

Midnight Sun was commissioned by brothers Jack Unzicker (double bassist) and John Unzicker (guitarist) and inspired by their childhood growing up in Alaska and the breathtaking natural beauty of the region. The title refers to the unique northern phenomenon of summer “midnight sun,” a dreamlike surreal experience of seeing the sun above the horizon at night. The duo will premiere the piece in their September 2025 in their concert in Juneau, Alaska.

The double bass part is written in the solo tuning (F#, B, E, A).
